This qualification consists of three units:
Duration And Entry Requirements
Security operatives are likely to make calls to the emergency services or need to communicate clearly to resolve the conflict. It is therefore essential that security operatives are able to communicate clearly. As an entry requirement, all learners must possess language skills equivalent to ESOL qualification at SCQF Level 5 awarded by SQA. This course is delivered over 3-4 days
Assessment
Unit 1 – Principles of working in the private security industry
This unit is assessed by a 72-question multiple-choice examination which is externally set and externally assessed. The examination duration is 110 minutes. Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass.
Unit 2 – Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry
This unit is assessed by a 40-question multiple-choice examination which is externally set and externally assessed. The examination duration is 60 minutes. Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass.
Externally set and internally assessed practical CCTV scenario with portfolio and observation sheet Pass mark – 100% And Externally set and internally assessed workbook
Pass mark = 80% for the short answer element of workbook
Certification
Upon successful completion candidates will receive a HABC Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6.
Successful candidates can apply for an SIA CCTV (PSS) Operator’s Licence which will allow the individual to operate as a qualified CCTV Operator in any part of the United Kingdom.
