Are you ready to take the first steps in training to become a counsellor? This course will give you the underpinning knowledge, skills, and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles.

It is for students who want to start the first level of training as a professional counsellor or who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles. 

This qualification will not teach you how to be a counsellor but it will you decide whether or not you want to train as one and it will give you counselling skills that are useful in a variety of roles e.g. care assistant, key worker, support worker.

It will also help improve your professional and personal relationships as aspects of the cousre enable you to explore your development, awareness, communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of the person-centred approach to counselling pioneered by the American psychologist Carl Rogers
  • Understand the basic principles of the skilled Helper
  • Be able to conduct a 10-15 minute counselling session
  • Be able to give counselling skills feedback
