Course Details

Focused on developing your confidence and competence to lead and develop yourself and others. Coaching and Leadership is a module focused on developing your confidence and competence to lead and develop yourself and others. 

  • Students will be able to understand and explore coaching theory and practice using a variety of tools in order to underpin coaching and leadership practice.
  • This module will introduce and explore the theories of coaching and leadership to underpin the students practice as a team member and leader. Through a series of reflective engagements and coaching practice with other students and in practice activities, students will be supported to develop self-awareness and integrate emotional intelligence into their professional role. 
  • The module will facilitate learning opportunities related to contemporary practice and leadership.

  • At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:
  • Critically analyse how coaching techniques can be used as a tool to develop effective communication skills for self-development whilst supporting and leading others.
  • Critically analyse the coaching role within team dynamics, selecting appropriate techniques and evidence to evaluate factors that influence staff engagement across a variety of leadership situations.
  • Critically explore the knowledge, skills, and behaviours of an effective leader and how this impacts on the organisation within leadership.
  • Explore the current processes promoted within healthcare and the wider professional settings and engage in critical debate to inform appropriate staff support.
  • Critically appraise theories of organisational culture, leadership and coaching, integrate and evaluate the key policy drivers and associated market pressures.

  • At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:
  • Compose a coaching formula that constitutes coaching methodologies and innovative techniques when used as a tool to develop effective communication skills for self-development whilst supporting and leading others.
  • Critically analyse the coaching role within team dynamics, synthesise appropriate techniques and evidence to evaluate factors that influence staff engagement across a variety of leadership situations.
  • Critically explore the knowledge, skills, and behaviours of an effective leader and present a hypothesis regarding the impact on the organisation within leadership.
  • Review and evaluate the current processes promoted within healthcare and the wider professional settings and engage in critical debate to inform appropriate staff support.
  • Construct a critical appraisal that synthesises the theories of organisational culture, leadership and coaching, with key policy drivers and market pressures.
