This unit covers the competency required to confine small workplace emergencies. Small workplace emergencies may include such incidents as a small fire that can be controlled using a nearby fire extinguisher; or a chemical spill that can be controlled using workplace personal protective clothing and equipment, and a small spill kit; or a workplace vehicle accident where there is no significant injury or damage.

The course ensures the safe use of Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose Reels and Fire Blankets. This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010.
Upon successful completion of the unit, attendees will be awarded the nationally recognised statement of attainment in PUAWER008B Confine small workplace emergencies (Fire Extinguisher use)

Advanced Industry Training (AIT) is a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that provides quality training and assessment services to meet the needs of construction, building, logistics, transport, agricultural and mining industries.
Training in the use of firefighting equipment is not required under any legislation unless the organisation has a specific requirement for employees to protect life or property. QuickFire EM can offer two types of training in the use of firefighting equipment.
This unit is designed to ensure that an appropriate first response to fire incidents in onshore and offshore situations/emergencies is achieved. This competency applies to students who are required to respond to fires in the workplace (other than evacuating to the assembly point).
Fire Extinguisher Awareness Training course is offered by Territory Fire Service & Training.
Inspect, Test and Tag Firefighting Equipment course is offered by Safety Training Professionals.
This course is designed for the Wardens or Emergency Officers who are required to respond to any type of emergency in the workplace – including fires, bomb threats, chemical incidents and terrorism.
