Why Attend A Confined Space Training Course?
Working in a confined space presents a unique set of issues that all workers need to be equipped to deal with. These issues can lead to injury or even death if proper procedures are not followed.
HSE stipulates that certain working practices must be adhered to including the conducting of risk assessments, clear identification of hazards and how to minimise them – especially where noxious substances could be present – and most important of all; a pre-planned escape strategy should an incident occur.
Hazards can include lack of oxygen, explosions, dust inhalation, influx of liquids, fire, and inhalation of fumes and/or poisonous gas; all of which can come without warning. It’s therefore vital to have a clear, well communicated procedure that can be implemented in an emergency when there is no time to think and no room for error.
Our confined space training meets HSE guidelines; giving people the skills to identify hazards, minimise them and deal with any incidences that could occur with minimum risk to life and health.
Who Should Attend A Confined Space Training Course?
Anyone working in any kind of confined space, or who manages such environments, should attend confined space training. For clarity, the definition of ‘confined space’ is not necessarily a small space.
The term describes any space that is enclosed with little ventilation where there is the risk of death or injury from the conditions involved. This can include silos, sewers, combustion chambers, storage tanks/vessels and enclosed drains.
