Course Description:

Within the context of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) is a cornerstone that outlines the distinct responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and workers in ensuring workplace safety. This training course is carefully crafted to empower these professionals with the knowledge they need to fulfill their duties effectively under the IRS.

 

Who should take this course:

Professionals involved in workplace safety, including employers, supervisors, and workers. It is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of their roles and responsibilities within the framework of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 

 

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the applicable responsibilities for employer, supervisors and workers and list the three rights of workers.
  • List the requirements of health and safety representative and joint health and safety committees and workers trades committees on construction projects.
  • Comply with the competent person legislation, basic occupational health and safety awareness training.
  • List and comply with designated substance on construction projects.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of workplace violence and harassment, and its assessment of risks.
  • Comply with the codes of practice, company policies.
  • List the authority of the inspector and the applicable penalties.
