CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is better known in the workplace and industry as the White Card.
This course complies with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation requiring induction training for anyone wishing to work in the construction industry or go onto a construction site.
It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work.
Our white card course covers the basic WHS knowledge required to gain entry to any construction site within Australia.
Students will gain the knowledge, skills and ability to demonstrate an understanding of WHS legislative requirements, basic principles of risk management, prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.
Students are required to be competent in written and spoken English and must declare that they have the Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills required prior to booking. The course is an entry-level course, aimed at level 1 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (Certificate I level).
There is a requirement to be able to read, understand and explain basic construction terminology, hazards, policies and procedures, etc. While there is a large amount of legislation covered, it is covered mostly by way of discussion, videos and training and the student's ability to read complex text is not required for this purpose. The LLN requirements of this course do not exceed those of a standard construction industry workplace.
