Contemporary Dance classes are offered by Universal Dance Studio. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, we have classes for you. Dance is a continuous study!
This class is the perfect place for that introduction. Get exposure to many facets of dance with a variety of dance styles like Contemporary, Ballet, Hip Hop and Jazz. Our instructors look forward to helping you discover the fun and joy of dancing!
Contemporary is an interpretative and creative form of dance. The dancers in the contemporary program will explore a variety of dance techniques while developing their own sense of creativity and expression.
For dancers aged 8-18, Contemporary dance teaches combinations that incorporate control, balance and flexibility.
Dancers must have a strong background in technical dance such as ballet and jazz as contemporary borrows movements from these formal genres. Modern elements are added to contemporary choreography such as torso contractions, floor work, and improvisation.
