Placing pinpointed pressure with your hands and pushing the chest down artificially keeps a person’s blood circulating around the body. Doing this, along with blowing air through someone’s mouth while closing the open airways located in the nose, will temporarily replace the body’s automatic function and mimic that person’s breathing and their heart beating.
CPR delivers a small amount of blood to the heart that allows the brain and body to function until defibrillation can take place. If CPR isn’t performed correctly or quickly enough, loss of life may occur.
