What We Do
At Equate Scotland, we make a positive difference for women in science, engineering, technology, and the built environment and actively work to change cultures in organisations and academia.
Established in 2006, Equate Scotland is the national expert in gender equality throughout the STEM sectors. We make a tangible and sustainable change, enabling women studying and working in these key sectors to develop, by supporting their recruitment, retention, and progression.
Our vision is of a progressive STEM labour market where women can contribute equally to advancements in science, engineering, and technology and have fair access to the jobs of the future.
Working with employers
In order to achieve the change we wish to see for all women, we work alongside industry and academia, creating positive changes in employment practices, behaviours and workplace cultures which are evidenced to benefit everyone.
We achieve this by
Delivering expert and bespoke training.
Offering consultancy to support employers in strategy development or simply helping employers understand where to start on pursuing gender equality.
Providing the only UK wide “women into STEM” job advertising platform and inclusive language check service.
Equate Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government to deliver our work without charge to students and women. The Scottish Government also funds our public training events to build gender equality knowledge and capacity in the STEM sectors. Our training, consultancy and recruitment support comes at a cost, however all income generated is invested back into our support for women studying, working in, or returning to STEM and allows us to reach more women across Scotland.
Job change and career transition is almost inevitable result of today’s ever-changing organisational structures and relentless business dynamism. It can, of course, also be initiated by personal factors such as developing new aspirations or pre-determined career termination.
The aim of this course is to support individuals to develop a positive CV that is structured and professional. It should be easy to read and easy to follow. This will then give a positive introduction of yourself to the company you are applying to.
At this time of joblessness, employers spend a matter of seconds looking at a CV. On this course you will learn to design a smarter CV which gets noticed, rather than binned.Learn persuasive keywords and phrases
Your CV is the first point of contact with an employer and is the make or break of your job application. It needs to be interesting to read, clear and concise. It should make a good first impression.
In addition to face-to-face training, we also offer a useful CV assessment service that involves an indepth analysis of your CV against a number of key effectiveness factors that ensure that it is both high quality and fit for purpose.
