Course Aims
For CCT Skilled Trainers to deliver high quality accredited face to face training with practical skills sessions which is tailored to organisational need and policies. For CCT skilled Trainers to deliver training which fulfils the current Core Skills Training Framework(CSTF), current CQC and NICE guidelines.
Course Objectives
This course is suitable for all qualified and non-qualified staff and they must have had diabetes training to deliver person centred care within their own limitations in line with their organisational policies
For participants to define ‘Diabetes’ and understand the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
For participants to be able to gain knowledge, skills and confidence on how to monitor and manage people suffering with diabetes in every day of their life and support them to have a good quality of life
For participants to be able to monitor and manage symptoms effectively with the involvement of the patient and the whole MDT
For participants to be able to gain knowledge of various health related problems and risks associated with diabetes
For participants to be able to gain knowledge and understanding of various evidence based treatments of diabetes
For participants to be able to gain knowledge and awareness of dealing with an insulin overdose
For participants to be able to gain knowledge and skills on how to monitor and manage hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia
For participants to be reminded to keep up to date and practice in line with current NICE Guidelines

Risk and health related conditions associated with Diabetes
Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment interventions of Diabetes

Understanding and gaining knowledge of different types of insulin aids and their role in maintaining blood glucose levels
