Our diamond dancers have spent many years perfecting their skills and we love watching the culmination of their dance education. Diamond dancers continue their ballet foundation with us and the final levels of our additional styles of tap, jazz, contemporary or lyrical.
Our Diamonds are the sparkle of our curriculum, the final tier of the the gemstone progression system and the top of our senior school. Our diamond dancers have spent many years perfecting their skills and we love watching the culmination of their dance education. Diamond dancers continue their ballet foundation with us and the final levels of our additional styles of tap, jazz, contemporary or lyrical.
Like our other levels, the diamond dancers are also offered the R.A.D. Ballet extension classes to take part in their senior ballet exams, and our competitive extension stream. Most of our diamond dancers take all available styles with us and are at the studio with us multiple days a week.
Diamond dancers who are part of the assistant teacher training program will take this course along side their regular classes. They are an intigral part of our dance community and are role models for our younger dancers.
Once our Diamonds reach 18 or finish year 12, they graduate from our gemstone curriculum and are invited into our adult pathways. At the end of this level, dancers are often completing year 12, and deciding what role dance will play in their lives.
Our team are on hand to offer advice when needed for this. Some dancers, who wish to make dance their career are encouraged to audition for full-time studios to continue their dance journey, others who wish to gain a career in dance teaching are guided down this path. Many of our dancers do not want to make a career out of dance, but still wish to have dance in their lives, our adult programs are the perfect place for this.
The story of Elite Dance began in 1994, when we started from scratch as Lamott School of Dance. Our love of dance education has seen us grow into a thriving and respected dance school in our community. In 2006, Lorraine Blackburn, one of the founding teachers of the studio took the reins exclusively and we were renamed to Elite Dance, reflective of the type of instruction we offer.
At Elite Dance, we endeavour to give our students the encouragement and support needed to reach their dance goals. No student is left out during performances and all our young dancers are given the opportunity to show their progress to family and friends.
Dance is a wonderful pastime to be enjoyed by all ages. It teaches a range of disciplines that can be used throughout a student’s lifetime. Our dedicated and qualified teachers and caring attitude allows our students to flourish and develop into confident and disciplined dancers.
Students are given the very best in dance education, we employ a policy of limited class sizes to ensure our students receive valuable and enriching classes and receive maximum benefit from our teachers’ expertise. We aim to keep our lessons as convenient as possible for parents and our dance timetables are scheduled to run alongside the public school terms.
No classes finish later than 8:30pm and all classes are taught by responsible adults. We know how important your children are and Elite Dance prides itself on always using age appropriate music, costumes and choreography.
Jazz dance is a classification shared by a broad range of dance styles. Jazz is a continually changing and evolving genre, and allows the body to work with flexibility, strength and dynamics to up-to-date music.Â
Jazz is a strong, fast paced and dynamic form of dance that fuses technique and personal flair. The VPA style of jazz is current, engaging and entertaining.Â
Open commercial jazz is an advanced class for professional level dancers. Weekly combos are taught by different choreographers at a fast pace. A great class for dancers at a pre professional level or for those who are home between contracts.Â
Fun and fast moving, jazz uses popular recent release music. Enjoyed by people of all ages, this style usually starts with an aerobic warm-up, and during class works on flexibility, isolations, co-ordination, turning, jumping and travelling skills.
Our Jazz classes are recreational (non-competitive).  They are designed for fun and for the teaching of skills that don’t fit into the calisthenics regime.
