This course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn about inclusion and diversity in order to create inclusive workplaces. The course will develop your confidence and competence in working with  and managing people from different backgrounds and experiences, enabling you to harness unique talents for the benefit of both individuals and your business. 

Whether you’re wanting to refresh your knowledge of core EDI matters or planning a wider programme of inclusion, this course will provide you with practical insights, actionable strategies, and the tools needed to foster an inclusive environment, while empowering you to confidently address diversity challenges and promote equity across your organisation.

  • Getting started - key terms, concepts, definitions
  • The business case for diversity
  • Hearing different perspectives; single narratives, media narratives/stereotypes
  • Legal position - applying the Equality Act in workplace practices
  • Identifying and challenging exclusionary behaviours.
  • Creating inclusion in the workplace.

Course content

  • This short course is delivered as a half day programme either face to face or online and addresses the fundamentals of diversity and inclusion for business. It is research informed and practice led, using interactive discussion, case studies,  exploring many aspects of Diversity and Inclusion at work. On completion of the course, participants will be awarded a Digital Badge.

  • Anne is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management and is a qualified coach. Her specialist research interest is in the employment experiences of neurodivergent employees. She contributes to the Learning and Development module for the professional CIPD programmes and supports the FT MSc HRM students as academic mentor. Anne’s career began in human resource management, working with Boots and ICL, before taking up the Head of HR post at a greenfield Nottingham based software firm where she set up the HR department from scratch, implementing reward systems, career pathing and resourcing strategies. She continues to enjoy working with the SME sector.
