This course is an intensive introduction to domestic machine knitting, which explores a range of techniques using both the knitter and the ribbing attachment.
It will introduce you to thinking creatively about using a machine at home or at work and consider how you can exploit the equipment to produce samples that explore colour and texture.

It is ideal for people just starting out or in a need of a refresher, whether you’ve invested in a machine or are considering buying one.
You might be returning to machine knitting after a break, or a student / graduate looking to add machine knitting to your CV and portfolio; anyone who is interested in textiles, knitting and crafts will be very welcome.
You'll start by learning how to knit a range of fabrics using the knitter only and then go on to learn about the potential for knitting using the ribbing attachment to produce many double bed fabrics.
These will include going from simple hems to more complex fabrics that incorporate racking and punch card patterning.
Learning a foreign language is a wonderful opportunity to not only learn the language itself, but also to reveal different perspectives on life, enabling you to explore new cultures through a different lens.

This workshop will show how to design and make a needle case using a selection of decorative stitches on the sewing machine. And to save you searching for a needle to fill it, you’ll also receive a free packet of large-eyed needles to get you started.
Together we'll make a pair of fingerless mitts, learning all the basics of knitting along the way: how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off as well as seaming and weaving in the ends of your finished project.
We offer a wide range of knitting and crochet workshops at Sharp Works. Whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced knitter/crocheter, we have something for you. We run specialist technique workshops alongside our popular beginners knitting and crochet classes.
Join us for a fun and unique morning of learning to knit with your arms and creating your very own cosy throw. Using gorgeous giant yarn in a choice of beautiful colours from Woolly Mahoosive you will learn all the basics of arm knitting and walk away with your very own completed throw.
This course is a fun introduction to hand knitting, with an emphasis on developing an experimental approach to your knitting.
