If you think you’re totally hopeless at putting pen to paper, think again.  Learning to draw is easier than you think, even for those whose artistic abilities seem non-existent. In this workshop, we’ll cover everything from holding a pencil correctly to tackling perspective and proportions.

First, you’ll learn about sketching basics and simplifying objects, learning to view them clearly in their essential parts. Then we’ll move through shading techniques to create dimension and proportions.

This is a judgment-free, casual class designed for making mistakes, experimenting, and discovering a talent you didn’t know you had. Explore your creativity in a fun and loose class where you’ll build artistic confidence and nail some fundamental sketching skills. Pick up a pen and make some new friends; you’ll be sketching in no time.]

  • Emilie is a Melbourne-based artist and maker, currently finishing her PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts. She moved from France and 2014 and has been developing her art practice since, working with a range of media, from video to printmaking and 3D printing. Emilie is also a comic book artist. Her illustration has been published by the Lifted Brow, and she published her first graphic novel in 2018 with Tree Paper Comics in Melbourne.
