Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) is a safety procedure used in to ensure that dangerous machinery or energy sources are properly shut off and unable to be started up again while maintenance or repairs are being performed.

The process involves isolating the equipment from its energy source(s) and locking or tagging the isolating device(s) to prevent the equipment from being accidentally energized.
