English as a Second Language

Learning a new language can seem daunting, but thankfully, CCBST has made the process easy and has broken down language learning into 4 areas: 1) reading and comprehension 2) listening, speaking and pronunciation 3) writing, grammar, and vocabulary development; and 4) communicative competence, Canadian perspectives, and business communication.

You may have prior professional training, but you’ll need to be moderately fluent in English if you’re going to succeed in the Canadian workforce. Once you understand the English language, you will be prepared to respond to job applications, write resumes and cover letters, and ace interviews with confidence in your language abilities.

The opportunities available to you will open up greatly. It may be a little tough to get going, but trust us, once you build your English language skills, it will make a tremendous impact on your life!

Course Description

This English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed for international and domestic students whose first language is not English. This program offers three levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced, with a focus on establishing a strong foundation in the four skills of speaking, reading, writing, and listening.

The ESL program encourages classroom interaction. Students will actively participate in a variety of large and small group activities that provide engaging opportunities to practice the four skills of English.

Small class sizes ensure that students receive ample feedback from instructors about their learning. Graduates of this course will be well-equipped for further studies, professional exams, and future career opportunities.
