Course Details

This course is designed for anyone already using as a part of their job, or is new to the use of fall protection equipment. In this program we will be discussing what fall protection is, the components of a fall protection system as well as the inspection and proper use.

The practical component of this course will vary depending on the customers use and whether the training is being done at Liftow or at the customer site. Upon successful completion of this program a wall certificate and all necessary paperwork for company records for each participant will be issued as proof of training.

  • Theoretical Component (In Class – 4 Hours)

Theoretical

  • Performing of Pre-Shift Inspection
  • Relevant Provincial Legislation
  • Differences Between Passive And Active Restraint
  • Fall Arrest System (Harness, Belt, Lanyard, Shock Absorption)
  • When Belts Should Be Used
  • Different Classes Of Harnesses And Their Uses
  • Different Anchorages (Engineered, Non-Engineered)
  • Different Types Of Lanyards
  • Calculating Total Fall Distances
  • Rope Grabs And Related Equipment
  • Horizontal Life Lines
  • Forming A Rescue Plan
  • Suspension Trauma
  • Summary (Written Test)

 

Practical

  • Review of Pre-Shift Inspection
  • Inspection Of The Harness Before Use
  • Inspection Of The Lanyard
  • Proper Sizing Of The Harness For Each Individual
  • Attachment To A Tripod To Experience Suspension In The Harness
  • Proper Care And Storage Of The Harness And Lanyard To Maximize Life
  • (Practical component will take approx. 30 minutes per individual depending on use and related tasks)
