This course combines fire safety training and fire extinguisher training into one. The training increases participants aware of fire prevention and initial response in the event of fire using quick action guides. It also includes information on common fire causes, how to prevent fires, what to do if there is a fire in their workplace, and a practical exercise in extinguishing live fires.
This course is designed for personnel in all workplaces. The skills and knowledge gained through this course can be applied in a range of settings including the home and will assist in maintaining a safer workplace.
Upon completion of this course participants will have an understanding and increased awareness of fire prevention and initial response in the event of a fire through the implementation of emergency quick action guides. The units of competence are Develop workplace fire safety awareness and Operate workplace portable firefighting equipment.

This course includes skills and knowledge as required by the Policy Directive for Fire Safety in Health Care Facilities as set out by NSW Health. This will also benefit Chief Wardens or others tasked with this role in a business.
The course has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010 and applies to employees in the workplace within all industries and in all contexts.
