The above Qualification enables the Learner to legally work with or be in possession of a firearm in the daily performance of their duties. The Learner as part of the program is taken through the various Sections and Regulations of the Firearms Control Act of 60/2000.
The Learner gains knowledge effectively and legally knowing when, where and how to handle the firearm.

This unit standard is for persons who need to demonstrate knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 2000 (Act No 60 of 2000), herein after the Act that is applicable to legally possess a firearm.
The Basic Firearm Training Course consists of a minimum 2 unit standards: (1) The Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act (Act 60 of 2000), and (2) at least one of the following: Handle & Use a Handgun, Handle & Use a Shotgun.
