Upon successful completion of the course and assessment exercises, the candidate will be awarded with a HABC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work certificate, as well as an ID Card. This certificate is valid for a further three years.
On completion of the course candidates will understand: The contents of First Aid kits (avoiding cross infection); Recording of incidents and accidents; Assessing the situation in an emergency; Administer first aid to a casualty who; is unconscious (including seizures); requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR); is choking, wounded or bleeding; is in shock or has minor conditions (minor cuts, grazes/bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters etc).
They will be able to administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles, joints including suspected spinal injury; sudden poisoning; burns and scalds; eye injuries; anaphylactic shock,* Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack*, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes (*Epi Pen and aspirin administration).
