Rutherford College has been offering courses to educate, inspire and up-skill adults since 1973. All of our tutors are qualified in teaching to adults - many of them specialists in their particular field - and you'll find that learning is easy in the relaxed sociable atmosphere of Community Education.
We schedule more than 200 courses each year and offer a range of family-friendly courses that are designed to allow students 13yrs+ to participate when accompanied by an adult.
The majority of our courses are run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and we also have day-time classes and weekend workshops. We look forward to having you participate in our program.

We offer GROW programmes, immersion opportunities as well as the French National Language Adviser who can work with your school to help strengthen the teaching of French. We also have close relationships with the New Zealand Association of French Teachers(NZAFT) as well as the French Embassy.
Learning French introduces you not only to a new language but to a culture and society as well. Languages can bring people together and French is widely used for communicating in many parts of the world, including our Pacific neighbours New Caledonia and French Polynesia.
Languages lead on to a wide variety of tertiary courses and jobs in commerce, tourism, education, media industry and any positions requiring advanced communication skills. A second language is becoming more beneficial when applying for jobs. There are opportunities to travel to French speaking.
