General English Course

Course Overview:

Our General English course is designed to equip students with key communication skills to use English confidently. Here’s your chance to learn effectively and efficiently, in an intensive but fun and friendly manner, and whilst meeting people and making friends from all over the world.

Our English courses are collaborative and communicative, so you are involved and learn well. Participants will have extensive opportunities to speak and to participate in classes; to permit this, extended reading, writing and grammar tasks as usually given for self-study, to make the most of class time with a teacher.

Course Contents:

Our General English course in Manchester covers a variety of topics and language areas according to class level.

The course content is designed with your teacher each week to focus on specific group needs and in particular:

• Speaking and listening skills
• Vocabulary building
• Functional language
• Improving pronunciation
• Error correction

On Fridays the focus is on collaborative and task-based learning group activities in ‘Project Fridays’, designed to develop fluency and promote other key learning and transferable skills.

Students who wish to focus primarily on reading, writing or grammar are advised to book one-to-one classes instead of (or in addition to) our General English course.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the General English course, participants will:
