Beginner 1 is for complete beginners. You will learn how to introduce and talk about yourself and your family, learn how to describe and purchase everyday objects and office work conversation. This course usually covers Chapter 1-6 in the book Menschen A 1.1.
Beginner 2 is for beginners who have completed Beginner 1 or have previously studied German basics. This course will often repeat office work conversation. It aims to cover Chapter 7-12 in the book Menschen A 1.1. Amongst other things, you will learn to talk about your leisure activities, how to give compliments, tell the time, talk about your food preferences, ask for your way when travelling, talk about a past day and past travels and learn about historical German festivals.
Intermediate is designed to build on Beginner 1 & 2, and is suitable for those with a basic understanding of grammar and vocabulary, to increase competency in a variety of thematic areas.
Advanced German requires a more solid foundation of the German language.
Welcome to the Victoria German School! Based in Victoria BC, the Victoria German School (VGS) is a recognized heritage language school that offers German language classes for children and adults, and organizes numerous cultural events within the community.
The Victoria German School has provided meaningful German language and cultural education in the Victoria area for over 25 years. VGS offers a wide range of classes, including German language introduction for pre-school and elementary levels, provincial high school credits, assistance in meeting German university requirements, and various adult classes.
VGS fosters a community spirit, and family and friends are welcomed at many special events such as Laternenfest, Weihnachtsfest, Fasching, and more. The Victoria German School is operated by the non-profit Victoria German School Society, a volunteer board of executives, our director and staffed by a team of energetic and dedicated teachers and assistants.
Our programs are funded through tuition fees and fundraisers, as well as donations from parents, the community at large, the BC Direct Access Program and the Federal Government of Germany. We are a proud member of the Canadian Association of German Language Schools and the PASCH Partner School Initiative.

Using the Magic-Languages curriculum and methodology, our monthly online German program provides everything needed to allow your children to immerse themselves in the language at least 3 times a week. We believe that consistency is the key to learning a new language.
If you have little or no previous knowledge of German, Beginner 1 is the right level for you. Speak and hear German from the first day as you quickly gain basic conversation skills to communicate information about yourself, your family and friends, your work and your daily life.
