In our gluten-free bread-making course or workshop, we cover the core fundamentals of gluten-free bread baking. By the end of the workshop, you will have all the knowledge necessary to make quality gluten-free bread with an artisan twist.
Even though our core passion is classic European-style breads, we’ve found that the vast variety of gluten-free flours is intriguing and makes beautiful and delicious loaves!

The gluten-free bread-making process.
The baker’s formula.
Shaping techniques.
Different baking techniques.
Our workshops are half-day workshops that you can choose to attend on an available date below. We currently run the courses in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The workshop will include hands-on practical teaching (prepare to get your hands messy!) where you will get to make your own gluten-free bread from scratch. Each person will make a whole-grain artisan-style loaf and a simple sandwich loaf. We also include tea, coffee, and refreshments.
My wife and I have been involved in the South African real bread movement since 2013. We started out humbly with a small artisan bakery in Alberton (Gauteng) selling and supplying bread to shops and clients. Our passion for real bread expanded and led us down the path of teaching artisan bread-making courses in Johannesburg.
Over time we found that it was difficult for home bakers in South Africa to acquire the right tools for making good bread at home. This led us to start sourcing quality tools and equipment. Currently, we have a team of people that run various baking classes and well over 100 curated products available in our shop. As a small family-run business, we aim to offer the best customer experience possible!
Simply put: We are really passionate about authentic bread and baking! With years in the industry, we know what home bakers need and only source products that will enable you to be successful in your bread journey. We also have a wealth of bread-making knowledge and we are happy to share it if you have any questions.
Our mission is to enable the rise (pun intended!) of authentic bread baking (and cooking in general) in South Africa by supplying affordable and quality equipment and ingredients. In this half day workshop, we translate everything we know about baking bread to a gluten-free setting. You’ll create a versatile everyday gluten free loaf, tasty buckwheat cheese straws and our renowned amaretti, all free of gluten-containing ingredients.
