We encourage all of our students to take regular Graded Exams, as it’s a great way to build confidence and really drive home the skills they learn as well as providing a benchmark of their progress. These are however optional, should you choose it’s not for you. Our grades are fully accredited to be equivalent to GCSEs at the lower end all the way up to A-levels and UCAS points for university entry at the higher grade 6 – 8 end.
Shades Music shop, repair and tuition centre, was opened by Christopher Poole on the 1st December 2007.
Shades have 100’s of regular customers and helping over 250 students per week, achieve their goals!
We also sell beginner and intermediate instruments as well as all accessories and offer a full repair centre for Woodwind, guitars, ukuleles and bass.
Shop opening times are from 14:00 – 20:00 Monday – Friday and 9:30 until 17:30 on Saturdays.

Our guitar lessons are custom-designed, if you will, to best fit the individual student, their interests, requirements and experience.
Lessons can be tailored to your individual needs and interests. Learn at your own pace. We have years of exam board experience should you wish to attain grades, however these are purely optional.
The electric guitar was invented in 1931. Very popular in pop and jazz music, the guitar uses a pickup to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical impulses. The signal is then sent to an amplifier to to be heard
Bass guitar Lessons are popular and can o?er a di?erent approach to traditional music. Whether you are interested in Classical, Jazz, Pop or Scottish Folk Music we cater for it all.
This program for children, young adults runs by application only. It offers a personalised study program according to the child’s requirements and abilities. LAM works closely with parents and / or carers, and even encourages families to practice with music-making together wherever possible.
