Health and safety for professional staff visiting sites

The aim of this course is to provide professional staff visiting sites with an increased awareness of health and safety issues and responsibilities when they are on site. This course will help staff to identify unsafe acts and conditions so that they can take the appropriate action to ensure safety on construction sites.

Objectives

After this course this course participants will be able to:

• · Prepare effectively for visits to sites
• · Describe the reasons and stages involved in producing a risk assessment
• · Identify the key hazards with working at height, scaffold, slips, trips and falls
• · List the duties relating to the use of mobile plant and equipment on site
• · List the hazards associated with working in confined spaces and with electrics
• · Describe the problems associated with lone working and the measures that
• should be in place for lone workers
• · Explain the difficulties for visitors to unoccupied sites
• · Discuss the importance of a range of personal protective equipment that
• should be worn by workers on site and visitors to site
• · Identify the main points to take into account to ensure personal safety when
• visiting sites
