Health and Safety In the Workplace (Level 1 Award)

This qualification is the ideal introduction to understanding the principles of health and safety in the workplace. This qualification is typically undertaken by those with no previous qualifications or experience of health and safety. The qualification is perfect for young adults as a part of an alternative curriculum, or by those entering or re-entering the workforce.

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a qualification intended for learners working in any environment and those who are returning to work or starting work for the first time.

This Level 1 qualification is designed to provide candidates with a basic knowledge relating to health, safety and welfare in the workplace. The emphasis is on making the individual safe for him/herself, safe for others and capable of identifying potential hazards.

Health and Safety takes its starting point from the fact that most accidents are attributable to a lack of knowledge or carelessness and that the key to improvement is increased awareness on everybody’s part.

This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent.
