For Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management and Environmental Engineering students, particularly if you will be doing a Summer 2023 internship and are currently job searching. It may also be relevant for Electrical Engineering students who are interested in working on construction sites.
The ASP Health and Safety on Construction Sites course is a requirement for obtaining a certificate of competence, authorizing the holder to work on a construction site in Quebec.
The course is also obligatory for management and control staff working mainly and usually on a construction site. The objective of the course is to develop a general understanding of everything affecting health and safety on construction sites.
Participants must attend all 19 units and pass the final exam: 30 hours of class in total. This course is ONLY offered in English.
This course is being offered to Concordia students only during the week of February 27, 2023 (during mid-term break when there are no classes) at the Institute for Co-operative Education in-person in the GM building at Concordia.

The WHMIS in Construction 2015 training is an in-class program that provides a generic overview of WHMIS (employers must provide additional WHMIS training tailored to the specific material workers may encounter on each work site).
Pursuant to section 2.4.2.i of the Safety Code for the construction industry, the Health and Safety on Construction Sites course is mandatory for anyone working primarily and usually on a construction sites. This course allows students to obtain the certificate (card) awarded by ASP Construction.
All firms with 20 or more employees require a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) comprised of members who are certified through Ministry of Labour-approved training.
This course was developed for students or anyone who will be or is thinking of entering the construction industry. This training program has been developed for those who have limited experience in a construction environment.
Construction worksites that are as safe as possible begin with providing basic safety training to all employees. CSTS-09 is the only worker-specific safety program of its kind in the B.C.
