This EDUBABE course deals with almost anything the employer would not have the time to show the domestic worker regarding the following:

  • Personal presentation
  • Telephone etiquette
  • House work in detail
  • The use of chemicals in the house
  • The benefits and pre-cautions when using chemicals
  • Laundry – Washing, ironing, Storing etc. Can also be done as a separate course

 

Delegates are encouraged to take a hands-on approach with practical experience being gained in the class environment.

Delegates will receive a manual during the course and a certificate will be posted from Head Office to the candidate after the course has been completed.

 

Course Content:

The House Keeping course includes the following sections:

Section 1: General Aspects on cleaning

  • Manage personal finance
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Hygiene in the kitchen and food hygiene
  • Transmittable diseases
  • Communication
  • Telephone etiquette
  • Self-image
  • My relationship with my employer
  • House safety and security
  • The need to look after equipment
  • Use of chemicals in the home
  • What is acid, alkaline and neutral?
  • Safety when handling chemicals
  • Read the label
  • Understand basic cleaning principles and perform basic cleaning tasks
  • Plant care

 

Section 2: Cleaning of small Kitchens, Kitchenettes and Tea Kitchens 

  • Recommended work roster
  • Choose the correct equipment, consumables and chemicals
  • Prepare the dishes for washing
  • Sequence of washing
  • Clean cutlery and crockery

 

Section 3: Cleaning of the dining room

  • Recommended work roster
  • How to set the dining room table

 

Section 4: Cleaning of Lounge

  • Recommended work roster

 

Section 5: Cleaning of the bathroom and toilet

  • Recommended work roster
  • Washing baths, showers and toilets

 

Section 6: Cleaning of the bedroom

  • Making of beds and tidy of cupboards
