Course Overview:

Hot Work Permit Observer is specifically designed for people who are required to perform hot work, fire watch duties and permit observer duties. Included in this course is the HANDS ON selection, use and operation of portable hand held fire extinguishers, blankets and hose reels.

This course comprises of three units of competency: PUAFER008 - Confine small emergencies in facilities MSMPER202 - Observe permit work MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Prepare for the job, control the permit site, take appropriate action for potential incident, complete safety observer role
  • Apply for permit, identify scope of the permit, prepare for permitted work, work in accordance with an issued permit, complete permit (s) to work
  • Prepare for emergency situations, identify and assess the emergency, safely confine emergencies where possible, use initial response equipment, report wfacility emergency response

 

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Permit observer
  • Fire watch or sentry
