We created our Fashion School Prep class for students who are applying to fashion schools so they have the best chance of being accepted. As fashion school graduates ourselves, our instructors can provide invaluable insight into what fashion schools are looking for in their applicants and how you can create your best portfolio application possible.
In this course you will learn how to create a portfolio ready garment, as well as a mini fashion collection, including mood board inspiration, hand drawn fashion illustrations, and fabric swatches, all things you will need to complete for your formal applications.
During this course you will learn:
Projects: Mini illustrated portfolio collection & portfolio-ready garment
Fabric and supplies: To be provided by student; first day materials will be provided and shipped and discussed for the remainder of the week. Students will be required to bring fabric after designing and sketching on the first day.
Virtual class recordings: All virtual classes will be recorded. If you miss a class or need to practice at home you may request the recording and rewatch. Class recordings are only available to students registered for the class and only the speaker will be recorded.
Kristine is a womenswear fashion designer and sewing instructor based in New York City with an education in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Missouri State University.
In addition to her specialized education, Kristine has years of experience within the industry including positions at Ford Models, J. Mendel, Gurhan, and David Yurman.
Kristine also has her own clothing business K.BANASIK that has been sold in over 25 stores all of the world. She believes her clothing and sewing lessons empower students and build confidence.
In this adult sewing class we will go over using a sewing machine including how to thread it, which types of threads, needles, fabric, etc. to buy and everything else to get you started.
Knit or sew at your own pace on the project of your choice. We’re ready to help you with your next sweater, shawl, hat, top, pants, dress...you name it!Â
We are going to learn how to sew our favorite skirt that complements most figures. It’s a great layering piece with leggings for year round wear in the Bay Area.Â
In this workshop, you'll start by making one small block using Foundation Paper Piecing. Then you'll repeat that block three more times and join them all together at the end! All materials will be provided for you.
Sewing techniques include: installing zippers, hemming pants, pockets, Hong Kong seams, how to sew a sleeve (set a sleeve) using different textiles, and much more!
