Course Details

This programme focuses on important client-side and some server-side interaction aspects of the Internet. The aim is to empower the user to interact with the Internet in an effective and efficient manner, and to provide practical training in the design and creation of usable Web pages.

At the end of this course, users will understand and be able to explain common terminology associated with the Internet. They will be able to use a variety of tools to help them design and publish Web pages that are both engaging and usable.

Even though this is an intermediate level course (learners will be expected to do only introductory client-side programming), learners will be given meaningful exposure to more advanced topics such as HTML hand-coding, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), JavaScript programming, designing Web pages and sites with good usability, and graphics file formats, their manipulation and preparation.

This Skills Programme is part of a full qualification that is mapped to a cluster of unit standards taken from a programme that is accredited by MICT SETA, namely National Certificate in Information Technology: Systems Development SAQA ID 48872, NQF level 5, 131 credits.

 

Admission Requirements:

  • Foundational skills in English and Mathematics at NQF level 4/Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ability to use a personal computer competently

 

Certification:

  • Upon successful completion of the programme, if the learner is found to be "Competent" in the PoE, the learner will receive a Y2K letter of results outlining the unit standards covered and Y2K will apply to MICT SETA on behalf of the learner for the endorsement of competency against the unit standards covered together with the credits obtained.
  • Upon successful completion of the optional external exam, the learner will receive a Microsoft Certificate.
