In the dynamic era of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), the integration of digital technologies with the physical world is reshaping industries and society alike. 

Spanning nine structured modules, the course embarks with an introduction to the 4IR, offering an insightful background into the evolution of industrial revolutions and delineating the salient features and roles of IoT in the current revolution. As we delve deeper, the course elucidates the fundamental aspects of IoT, including its architectural design, myriad devices, and sensors, along with a thorough examination of the prevailing connectivity and networking protocols that underpin IoT ecosystems, cloud and edge computing, data analytics, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence with IoT. Participants will explore the diverse applications of IoT in the 4IR, extending across smart manufacturing, intelligent cities, modern healthcare systems, Agriculture 4.0, and advancements in transportation and logistics.

  • Our trainers Ts Dr. Hafizan Mat Som is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and a member of the Positive Computing Research Centre within UTP's Institute of Emerging Digital Technology. With over 20 years of experience in teaching and training in Digital Technology, IT/IS Governance, and Business Strategic Planning, Ts Dr. Hafizan is an accomplished professional in her field. She earned her PhD from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, specializing in technology-enhanced learning. She holds active membership as a Professional Technologist (Ts) awarded by the Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT) and is a member of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), Malaysia Chapter. Ts Dr. Hafizan brings extensive leadership experience, having previously held a top management position at a university in Pahang and served as the executive director of a Technical Training College. She is currently the Cluster Head for the Technology Section under the Pahang Women Policies and Blueprint 2022-2026. Ts Dr. Hafizan has been actively involved in delivering training to a diverse range of participants, including school children, university students, graduates, corporate employees, and the public. Her professional interests focus on business strategic planning, business digitalization, digital governance, digital learning technologies, and the application of extended reality technology to enhance quality of life. Dr Ahmad Sobri Hashim (UTP) Dr Ahmad Sobri is holding a post as senior lecturer at Computer & Information Sciences Department (CISD), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Science (MSc) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degrees from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in Information Technology field. His research interests include IoT, data analytics, e-systems, human computer interaction, educational technologies, learning disabilities and information system. He currently involves in few research related to robotic, sentiment analysis and gestural interaction where he managed to secure research grants by funders from government and private.
