Introduction

The Environmental Management System Auditor/Lead Auditor course has been created to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and abilities to conduct audits, including first-party, second-party, and third-party audits of Environmental Management Systems based on the ISO 14001 standard.

The course is designed in compliance with ISO 19011 and ISO 17021 standards, and it satisfies the requirements for individuals seeking certification as an Auditor or Lead Auditor.

Pre-Requisites

To attend this course, delegates are expected to have prior knowledge in the
following areas:

• They should be able to explain the purpose of an Environmental Management System, the Environmental Management System standards, and the benefits of improving the performance of the Environmental Management System for a business. Additionally, they should be able to outline the structure and content of ISO 14001 and its relationship with ISO 9000.

• They should be able to outline the structure and content of ISO 14001 and its relationship with ISO 9000.

• They should be able to explain the specific Environmental management-.

• related requirements of ISO 14001.

Delegates can acquire this prior knowledge by completing a certified EMS
Foundation Training course or an equivalent program.

Learning Outcome

Upon completing this course, delegates should be able to:

• Explain the purpose of an Environmental Management System, Environmental Management System standards, management system audit, third-party certification, and the benefits of improving Environmental Management System performance for a business.

• Describe the role of an auditor in planning, conducting, reporting, and following up on an Environmental Management System audit, in compliance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 as applicable.

• Develop the skills to plan, conduct, report, and follow up on an audit of an Environmental Management System, by ISO 14001:2015, ISO 19011, and ISO/IEC 17021 as applicable, in order to establish conformity (or otherwise).

Methodology of Delivery

The course is delivered using the following methods:

• Mock audits and presentation of findings

Examination

• Upon completion of the course, there will be a two-hour examination. Successful delegates will receive a certificate of achievement. Delegates who attended the full course but did not pass the exam can retake the exam within 12 months of the course end-date.
