Pre-Requisites

To attend this course, delegates are expected to have prior knowledge in the
following areas:

Additionally, they should be able to outline the structure and content of ISO 14001 and its relationship with ISO 9000.

Delegates can acquire this prior knowledge by completing a certified EMS
Foundation Training course or an equivalent program.

 

Learning Outcome

Upon completing this course, delegates should be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of an Environmental Management System, Environmental Management System standards, management system audit, third-party certification, and the benefits of improving Environmental Management System performance for a business.

  • Describe the role of an auditor in planning, conducting, reporting, and following up on an Environmental Management System audit, in compliance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 as applicable.

  • Develop the skills to plan, conduct, report, and follow up on an audit of an Environmental Management System, by ISO 14001:2015, ISO 19011, and ISO/IEC 17021 as applicable, in order to establish conformity (or otherwise).

 

Methodology of Delivery

The course is delivered using the following methods:

  • Workshops and exercises that promote accelerated learning

  • Role-play, case studies, and group and individual discussions

  • Mock audits and presentation of findings

 

Examination

  • Upon completion of the course, there will be a two-hour examination. Successful delegates will receive a certificate of achievement. Delegates who attended the full course but did not pass the exam can retake the exam within 12 months of the course end-date.
