Established in 2001, Allegro Performing Arts Centre has developed one of the finest and most diverse dance programs offered in Victoria, BC. Our experienced and qualified faculty offers dance training for children and adults of all ages and abilities, beginners to pre-professionals. We provide a positive, supportive and professional environment in which students learn about dance as well as self-discipline.
Students will focus on movements such as leaps, jumps and flexibility. Students are required to wear a body suit or fitted top with spandex shorts, leggings or tights.
Jazz dance students complete warm-up and stretching exercises before working on skills such as leaps, turns, kicks, and jumps. Jazz is a fun, upbeat class combining technical elements and creativity, all while increasing flexibility, strength and musicality.
Using the latest popular music as well as some classic pop songs and contemporary music, jazz promotes fitness with a focus on fun. Jazz develops flexibility and co-ordination of total body movement
Think Chicago, All That Jazz and Sweet Charity! Built on the foundations of jazz and swing music, jazz dance is a high energy form using movements from a variety of techniques drawn from ballet, swing, vaudeville and African dance traditions combined with stylized choreography.
Jazz is a fun and high energy style of dance! All classes will start with a warm-up and muscle stretch to develop and improve flexibility. Class consists of beginner jazz movements including barre technique, body isolations, traveling steps and learning a routine for competition.
