This lively variation of the Jitterbug is highly energetic with high pumping knees and fast feet with kicks and flicks. This was first musically demonstrated by the ever-popular musician Cab Calloway in 1934 and became popular in the U.S. in the 1940s.

Jive is an energetic dance, with plenty of knee-lifting, bending, and rocking of the hips. The fastest of the Latin dances, Jive incorporates lots of kicks and flicks and an even twirling of the woman. Â The feet are well-controlled under the body with the knees close together.
