Know Your Knits 101 is a two-part series so that we can explore and practice sewing different kinds of knits (there are SEW many!). Choosing a simple pair of leggings, lounge pants/shorts or skirt lets us focus on technique and fit without feeling rushed.
Think about the majority of your wardrobe. Most of us wear knitwear for comfort and ease of fit, but we avoid knits in our sewing projects. Why? Because we’ve been told that they are “hard to work with”, and that you need a serger for success. In this class, we’ll take the anxiety out of working with knits by learning the specialized notions, machine settings, presser feet, and finishing techniques for truly satisfying results.

You’ll also be able to experiment on a serger to see what that machine can add to your knit sewing game. But rest assured, you don’t need a serger to have success sewing knits.
Pre-requisite:
You feel confident operating your machine, you know how to pin and cut fabric on grain, and have taken Beginner Sewing Series and Garment Sewing For Beginners or equivalent.
Please know that all gender identities, orientations, ages, body types and cultures are embraced here.
With decades of sewing and teaching experience, I will help you meet any of your sewing goals, whether you’re just starting out or more advanced. I can’t wait to help you gain confidence and surpass your own expectations. Let’s get started!
Get started! This three-class series is designed for complete beginners or folks just getting going with knitting.
Whether you've never picked up knitting needles or just can't quite remember how, this is the perfect class for you!
In this class you will learn how to properly cut your fabric, press your squares, sew your squares to achieve a good quarter inch seam, and assemble your blocks and rows to complete an entire quilt top
We'll demonstrate (in class) how to complete the block including cutting and piecing instructions.
The intent of the KAL / CAL is to enable participants to try out a new skill, design, technique, or yarn type. Most of the designs selected are for advanced beginners and up. We encourage everyone to push their skills a bit and suggest you try a project or two.
