As the support staff environment continuously evolves, our course has been carefully crafted to encompass the latest skills and knowledge required by teaching assistants, expanding its scope to include new roles and responsibilities.
How will I learn?
Immerse yourself in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that encourages open dialogue, sharing of ideas, and personal experiences. Our classes, available at our Filton and Stroud campuses, as well as through remote live sessions on Microsoft Teams, offer the flexibility to engage in live interactive sessions.
Through a diverse range of learning and teaching activities, including group work, discussions, and presentations, you'll explore different perspectives on the role of a Teaching Assistant.
Be prepared to actively participate, contribute to discussions, and partake in various activities to fully maximise your learning experience. To support your studies, you'll need a work placement of at least two days a week, where your school will assign a mentor to guide you, provide feedback, and assist in sourcing relevant information.
Your tutor will also conduct observations during their visits to your workplace. Additionally, you'll attend on-site course workshops and assessment tutorials, further enhancing your learning journey.
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required to enrol in our Level 3 certificate, ensuring accessibility for individuals from diverse backgrounds. However, it's essential to note that the government emphasizes proficiency in English, Maths, and Information Communication Technology (ICT) for all learners.
We recommend achieving a Level 2 proficiency in these subjects by the end of your qualification. If you don't possess this level of proficiency initially, supplementary courses will be available alongside the main qualification.
For those not currently employed in a school, securing a work placement at a primary or secondary school is necessary for a minimum of 2 days a week. It's your responsibility to discuss the requirements for a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check with your chosen school.
To complete the Level 3 certificate, you'll build a portfolio showcasing your work and accomplishments, aiming to achieve a minimum of 32 credits. Evidence and observations are not graded but evaluated based on the set criteria for each unit.
Embark on a transformative journey in education, making a lasting impact on the lives of children and young learners. Enrol in our Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools certificate today.
