Ladder Safety & Statutory Inspection (Face to face)

This is a theoretical and practical training course following guidelines produced by various manufacturers

Subject modules

• Legislation and Regulations affecting work at height & ladder / step ladder use

• Select appropriate work at height equipment for the task

• Product standards and classifications for ladders and step ladders

• Identify component parts using industry standard naming conventions

• Ladder / step ladder risk assessment

• The difference between pre-use and formal inspections

• Inspect ladders and step ladders for damage pre-use

• Recommend action to be taken if faults found

• Accurately record details of ladders

• Identify component parts using industry standard naming conventions

• Thoroughly inspect ladders & stepladders, & identify safety critical faults

• Record findings in accordance with statutory requirements

• Recommend action to be taken if faults found

• Difference between maintenance and repairs & who is responsible

• Correct methods of disposal for damaged or redundant equipment

Assessment method

• Assessment will be carried out via online written exam at the end of each module PLUS the completion of multiple workplace ladder inspections which will be submitted and assessed during training
