Diana is the owner and founder of Satori. As the visionary, she brings forth a diverse array of experience which adds a uniqueness that really separates Satori from other martial arts studios. With certifications as a: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Professor, Yoga & Meditation Teacher, Ginastica Natural Instructor, Birth Doula, Shiatsu Therapist, and Early Childhood Educator, she remains highly qualified with her credentials - but more importantly, with her experience. As you might notice - she has an insatiable hunger to learn and share. She, not only, trains Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but is an avid martial artist - also training in Judo, Muay Thai, and Capoeira. A pioneer of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here in Alberta, she's been an active member of the BJJ community for over 20 years - and a sole female black belt in her academy.
In the early days (circa 2001-2005), Diana even found herself competing in men's divisions, as there were no women to compete against - something we would not see in our present day. She's competed and successfully won and placed at countless local and international BJJ competitions over the years- Rio de Janiero/Brazil State Championships, IBJJF World Masters, Abu Dhabi International Pro, Alberta Provincials to name a few.Feeling blessed to be able to live and work in so many passions, she truly feels that each "hat" she wears compliments the other, and feels honored to be able to share her passions with the community.
Not only will you find her behind the scenes, but you'll also find her on the mats, in the classes, teaching in schools, for businesses - and out in the community. She is an active community member and donates much of her time to give back through volunteerism and collaborations with like-minded organizations and individuals. She is passionate about building resilient communities and keeps it her mission to foster this sense of community within each class she teaches. Her motto: passion, purpose, service. In her free time, Diana loves to spend time with her beautiful boys, family and friends. Mountain trips, camping, cruising on her motorbike, fishing, and just being out in nature.
