RRC’s Legionella Awareness Short Course covers details of the regulations surrionding control of legionella as laid out in The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, in particualr the context and for regulations and Approved Codes of Practice that apply to legionella. 

This includes information provided in ACOP L8: The control of legionella bacteria in water systems. The course raises awareness of the risk of legionella bacteria no matter how big or small the premises, or how many people use it.

It is a suitable for anyone with responsibility for premises that have water systems that can pose a risk of legionella. This can be an employer, landlord or letting agent.

 

Course Aims & Objectives:

The RRC Legionella Awareness Short Course will allow Learners to:

  • Facts about Legionella and Legionnaires’ disease
  • Understanding ACOP L8 ‘The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems’
  • The impact of failing to conform
  • Assessment of systems at risk
  • Control measures
  • Planning for and conducting risk assessments
  • Risk assessments - BS 8580:2010
  • Developing and implementing the writing scheme
  • Record keeping, monitoring and management of systems after the risk assessment
  • Use, management and control of contractors
