You will develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to enable you to be a part of the accounting function. You will be able to create sales invoices and credit notes as well as understand the use of a range of documents and accounting terms.
You will learn how to make entries in sales and sales returns daybooks, purchases and purchases returns daybooks, cashbook and petty cashbook, and how to transfer those totals to the sales, purchases and general ledgers. You will also learn how to reconcile the bank statement with the cashbook and how to extract an initial trial balance.

This Level 1 Bookkeeping AAT course is ideal for adults wanting to pursue a career in accountancy or gain some book keeping skills at a time to suit.
Bookkeeping focuses on the recording and handling daily financial transactions such as expenses, purchases, sales and receipts. This is a regular record-keeping activity that is the basis of all the economic reports.
This Level 1 qualification introduces the role of a bookkeeper and the underpinning knowledge to identify and carry out simple different bookkeeping activities, such as income and expenditure, profit and loss, and assets and liabilities.
This course will give you a full introduction into bookkeeping and will help you progress onto higher level accountancy courses to become a fully qualified Bookkeeper, or provide you with the skills to manage your accounts for your own business.
Students completing this qualification will develop an understanding of the role of the bookkeeper, including the need to produce timely and accurate work and to follow ethical principles. Daytime and evening classes will be available, and there will be multiple start dates through the year.
