What will I study?
This course consists of four units. Each unit has its own assessment criteria and associated learning outcomes.
Unit 1 – Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships of teachers in education and training: The first unit introduces the roles and responsibilities of teachers in education and training. You will explore how to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment, learn about key legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice you need to be aware of as a teacher in the sector and consider how and when you will work with others to meet the needs of learners and carry out your role.
Unit 2a – Understanding inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training: The first part of the second unit introduces teaching and learning theories and approaches that are relevant to adult learners. For this unit, you will need to observe an experienced teacher in order to identify and evaluate the use of different teaching and learning approaches.
Unit 2b – Using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training: The second part of unit two introduces planning and during the sessions you will be expected to plan, deliver and evaluate a short teaching session.
Unit 3 – Understanding assessment in education: This unit explores the importance of assessment in education and training and introduces the different assessment types and methods. You will consider how to involve learners in the assessment process and be able to identify the types of assessment records you may keep.
How will I be assessed?
For each module, you will complete assignments that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experience.
