This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the diverse and ever-evolving sports industry. You’ll start by building a strong foundation in sport and exercise science before specialising in areas such as fitness instructing, sports coaching, or sports therapy during your second year
Combining practical and theoretical learning, you’ll study units such as Principles of Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise, Sports Nutrition, and Psychology for Sports Performance.
You’ll also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in our industry-standard facilities and through work placements in sport-related settings.
In addition to your core studies, you’ll have the chance to choose optional units and pursue additional professional qualifications tailored to your career goals.
You’ll be encouraged to participate in a variety of volunteering opportunities and enrichment activities, helping you gain valuable skills and experience.
This course is designed to prepare you for a range of careers in the sport and active leisure sector, whether you’re aiming to become a fitness instructor, sports coach, or sports therapist. By the end of your studies, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take the next step in your chosen career path.
Upon successful completion of year 1 you will receive a Level 3 Diploma and upon successful completion of year 2 you will receive a Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification, which will open the doors to degree-level study or employment.
Entry Requirements & Progression
What You'll Need
You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent, (including English and maths)
OR
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths at grades 4-9, or equivalent.
This Could Lead to
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to study a HNC or HND, University Degree or an Apprenticeship to further your skills.
You can also progress into employment in the industry.

Fareham College
An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated college that teaches over 3,200 students each year and offers a diverse range of courses. These include T Levels, traineeships, apprenticeships, HE, and part-time and professional courses. These courses help prepare students for employment in their chosen career path or progress to university or onto an apprenticeship.
The college was a wave one T Level provider in 2020 and is the lead college for the South Coast Institute of

CETC
Our Civil Engineering Training Centre (CETC) is a purpose-built two-acre mock construction site close to our CEMAST training centre on the Daedalus Airfield, and is dedicated to the delivery of a specialist Civil Engineering & Groundworks Apprenticeship and also specialist training in Highways.
