Course Details

This is a two year course aimed at people who are interested in this vocational area. Students must pass all units to achieve the BTEC Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Travel and Tourism in year 1. The units cover a wide range of tourist and travel agents operational activities. After successful completion of this course students can progress on to the Level 3 Extended diploma in Travel and Tourism and study Level 2 Cabin Crew.

The method of learning is a mixture of both tutor led and practical sessions. Tutors expect full participation in learning activities.

  • Level 2 NCFE Certificate for Aviation Operations on the Ground Year 2

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for you if you have an interest in travel and wish to gain a Level 3 qualification before progressing to either Higher Education or employment.

How is the course assessed?

There is no end test within this course and varying methods of assessment will be used:

  • Observations

  • Role Play

  • Professional Discussions

  • Written Tasks

  • Presentations

Your Study Programme

If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme this could be a vocational or technical qualification. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can.

Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career.

If you have chosen to study for a T Level qualification, this will involve college-based theory and practice lessons along with relevant work placement to enable you to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers are looking for.

Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 (C) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses).

Knowledge

You will develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of:

  • The breadth and depth of the travel industry, including the products and packages available in the travel and tourism sector

  • How to enhance the customer experience

  • Tourist destinations, visitor attractions and the importance of sustainable tourism.

Skills

You will have the ability to:

  • Deal with customer enquiries and queries, meet and greet customers in destinations and market products to customers

  • Use critical thinking and creative solutions to solve non-routine problems and handle complaints
