It is a traditional teacher training qualification, encouraging learners to reflect on their current teaching practice and develop their teaching skills. 

About this course

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (previously DTLLS) provides teacher status in the post 16 and adult teaching sector. 
The course consists of seven units:

  • Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training

  • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training 

  • Theories, principles and models in education and training

  • Wider professional practice in education and training

  • Action Research

  • Developing, using and organising resources within a specialist area

  • Inclusive Practice

Learners must produce a portfolio of evidence that is a combination of written assessments and practical teaching evidence. They must log 100 hours of teaching practice, including eight lesson observations.
