Overveiw

This Forklift 2-day course includes classroom learning, practical training, and assessment to provide students with the knowledge and skills to operate a forklift truck safely.

Once you have passed your course you will also be eligible to apply for a Forklift Truck High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL) class LF.

This unit requires a person operating a forklift truck to:

· plan for the work/task
· prepare for the work/task
· perform work/task & pack up.

This course covers the following skills and knowledge and much more:

  • High-Risk Work Licence Requirements.
  • Legislation.
  • Hazards, Risks, and Controls.
  • Types of Forklifts
  • Rated capacity (load Charts) How to read and understand them
  • Using different attachments
  • Pre-Start, Operational Checks & Post Operational Checks
  • Rear-end swing
  • Stability triangle
  • Operating safely including moving and placing loads
  • Parking safely

A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL). The normal course fee is $430 P/P currently on special until 30/9/23 for $387 P/P. (No additional costs apply)

Additional fees are payable to NT Worksafe for processing of High-Risk Work Licence applications. Where the value for an individual’s combined course fee is more than $1500, a deposit is required, with the balance to be paid before the training is completed.

 

Requirements

English at a level that enables the safe performance of high-risk work.

Reading

Identifies and interprets information from workplace procedures, documentation, legislation and regulations

Numeracy

Uses equipment operating capacity schedule to confirm safe weight load limits
To be eligible to apply for a High-Risk Work licence you must:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Reside in the Northern Territory
  • Complete training through a registered NT assessor and provide the assessment report no more than 60 days from the assessment date.
  • Not hold an equivalent licence under a corresponding Work Health and Safety law unless that licence is due for renewal
  • Be able to carry out the work to which the licence relates safely and competently


If English is a second language for participants you have any concerns with Language literacy and or numeracy or any other learning challenges or needs, you should discuss these with the administration team prior to enrolment, and the trainer assessor prior to the course commencement.

Learning materials are made available to all students once course fees are paid, allowing self-paced learning prior to the course.
