Lost wax carving starts with making a wax model of your desired object, which is used to create a metal mould called casting. The casts are then taken to have molten silver poured into the mould and, once hardened, filed or carved into its final shape.

We’ll cover the different varieties of wax and their properties, and how to create a ring using basic shaping techniques with files and carving tools. You’ll gain an understanding of the lost wax technique, casting and the finishing of metal jewellery.
