The course allows students to prepare for and sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane before parking the crane and storing equipment. Participants in this course will be able to implement controls to reduce hazards/risks.
This course will also enable you to perform pre-operational inspections, action start-up procedures for a forklift; and gain competence in using forklift skills to maneuverer loads, drive safely in multiple environments, and park and shut down the forklift.
You’ll learn the theory and gain practical experience entering a confined space on your site and using a gas detector, as well as covering any practical issues you may need to manage. We cover the use of our airline systems and other recovery gear you may need.
All operators driving a forklift on a road in New Zealand must have the F (Forklift) Endorsement on their drivers licence. This course is designed to the endorsement as well as Unit Standard 18496 - Demonstrate knowledge and skills for driving a forklift on a road for endorsement F (forklifts).
This course is a Health & Safety requirement and operators MUST be certified for using a EWP within the workplace as per the WorkSafe NZ "Best Practice Guide for Mobile EWP's".
